Animals

Our
cats are both rescues. Tildi, on the left, was a street
cat
but was obviously used to being around humans and houses, so not feral.
Tuppence, on the right, we found by the roadside as a four
week old
kitten.

Sadly, Tuppence died a few days ago.

Tildi
has also gone. She went out hunting one night at our summer
home
in Finland and never came back. We searched with the dogs for
several days, but found no trace of her. We believe a lynx
must
have got her. This was Tildi's 11th summer in Finland.
So for the first time in 18 years we have no cats.
It really
does feel very strange.

Believe it or
not, Tildi is back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We went to
Finland the week before last to see my wife's mother, and the family
told us they had been feeding a black cat for about six weeks, but
couldn't get close enough to see whether it was Tildi or not. We
went to the main house, and sure enough there was a black cat there,
about 100 yards off. It took my wife ten minutes or so to get
close enough to pick the cat up, and sure enough, it was Tildi.
She had been living in the forest for over two months.
So
we got a friend to retrieve her Pet Passport, which luckily we had
kept, and I delayed my return until it arrived and Tildi and I could
get a Finnair flight back through Brussels.
Our vet says she
seems to be in good condition, though she has lost some weight.
We are completely baffled about what happened, but can only
assume she must have been chased so far away that it took her a month
to find her way back. What a tale she would have to tell if only
she could speak !!!!!!!!
