Mill

This is the original residence, as well as being one of the two working mills here.  I believe one originally worked for the tanning trade, and the other for the linen trade.

At present I have removed all the internal partitioning which was there when we arrived, and fitted the main (center) floor out as a woodworking shop.  I'm not a professional, I just build stuff for the house.

Not nearly quickly enough, my wife tells me

The upper floor is half full of stored wood, and we have also put summer clothes drying lines up there, and the lower floor is used to store gardening tools and supplies.

I believe this building was used by both sides as a field hospital during 1944-45, but have no further information.

The roof leaks, and the windows are shot, but the fridge is full of beer

At some point this mill was converted to mill grain, and then subsequently converted again to generate electricity.  I believe this was not so successful, largely due to using an over-sized turbine and not having enough water head to drive it to its capacity, but there's no doubt that it did work.  Obviously, it's got to be in the plan to get this working again, but I haven't yet looked into what would be involved.

The old turbine is still there, though.
